The City of Shelbyville has announced April’s Heavy Trash Week.
From April 13-17, the city will collect excessive trash loads in an effort to help residents clean out excess trash materials.
Heavy trash collection will coincide with normal trash day collections. All trash must be curbside by 7 a.m. of collection day.
There will be no recycling collection during heavy trash week.
Small and loose items must be contained. Trash piles cannot exceed four feet deep, eight feet high or 10 feet long.
Trash, lumber and metal items should be separated into distinct areas.
Items not collected include televisions, computers, batteries, concrete, paint, construction materials, tires or oil.
Appliances such as refrigerators and air conditioners must be drained of freon and tagged by a professional.
