Friday morning May 3rd, at approximately 4:30, an officer with the Plymouth Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling north on Michigan Street near Skylane Drive. The traffic stop was for moving and equipment violations.
The vehicle stopped in the parking lot of Speedway Gas Station. The driver was identified as Karen Turcios-Martinez, 31-years-old of West Washington Street in Plymouth.
Turcios-Martinez had never obtained a driver’s license and had a prior conviction. She was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked in for operator never licensed.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
