A Knox man faces multiple charges after a Marshall County Sheriff's deputy stopped him for driving the wrong direction on U.S. 31 Saturday night.

A deputy stopped a vehicle on U.S. 31 north of 9A Road at approximately 8:55 p.m. Saturday, January 4, after observing it traveling northbound in the southbound lanes.

During the traffic stop investigation, the deputy discovered that the driver, Elyin Garcia, 26, of Knox, had never obtained a driver's license.

Deputies also found Garcia in possession of fraudulent government documents. The nature and type of fraudulent documents were not specified in the arrest report.

Garcia was arrested and transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was booked on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle without ever receiving a license, possession of fraudulent government documents, and reckless driving

His cash bond was set at $500.

Charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. All suspects are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
