Shelbyville boys volleyball won its first match of the season Monday at Indianapolis Washington, 25-18, 25-16, 25-22.
Jay Kawakami led the Golden Bears (1-14) with eight kills and nine service aces. Jack Bassett finished with four kills and six aces.
Hunter Richard had a team-high nine digs and Harlyn Feathers had nine assists.
The Continentals dropped to 0-3.
Shelbyville is at Greenwood (6-2) Thursday.

At Shelbyville, a ninth-inning single by Macy Hufford scored Grace Fisher to give the visiting Arabians the lead once again and Brynlie Holden shut down the Golden Bears for a fourth-straight inning to secure the Hoosier Heritage Conference victory.
Pendleton Heights (4-4, 1-0 HHC) scored single runs in each of the first four innings off Shelbyville starting pitcher Gracie Crafton (2-4), who threw all nine innings.
The Golden Bears (4-5, 0-1 HHC) took their first lead of the game in the fifth inning off a Pendleton Heights error that scored June Murdick and Addie Herald.
A run-scoring double by Hufford tied the game in the seventh.
Shelbyville is at New Castle (2-4, 0-1 HHC) tonight.
