U.S. Rep. Yakym Celebrates Police Week Voting to Back the Blue

 This week, Congressman Rudy Yakym (IN-02) continued celebrating National Police Week by voting to pass three pieces of legislation aimed at equipping and supporting law enforcement.
“Our men and women in uniform represent the very best of us,” Rep. Yakym said. “Their courage to run toward danger when others run away is what keeps our communities safe. I’m deeply grateful for their service and I will always stand with them. These three pieces of legislation are a small way to continue showing our unwavering support for those who protect and serve.” 
Background:
The U.S. House of Representatives passed the LEOSA Reform Act (H.R. 2243), the Federal Law Enforcement Officer Service Weapon Purchase Act (H.R. 2255), and the Improving Law Enforcement Officer Safety and Wellness Through Data Act (H.R. 2240). 
 Congressman Yakym was a co-sponsor of H.R. 2243, which allows qualified law enforcement officers who have committed themselves to their communities the opportunity to continue doing so by extending their concealed carry privileges.
 H.R. 2255 allows current federal law enforcement officers in good standing to purchase a retired weapon at market value from a federal agency.
 H.R. 2240 requires the Department of Justice to collect and report data on violent attacks against law enforcement officers, including government responses and gaps in reporting.
