The keychain library features keychains and trinkets at 7 Wood Street, Greencastle.
A social media post has spurred a new endeavor for Greencastle resident Josee Scroggin.
The 2019 Greencastle High School graduate saw an Instagram post by an individual who started a keychain library where he lived and she immediately thought it would be something that would go over well in Greencastle.
"I thought I would ask him if I could do the same for Greencastle, and he made a video saying he would like that," Scroggin told The Putnam County Post.
With the approval, Scroggin began working on the keychain library, which features keychains and trinkets at 7 Wood Street, Greencastle, near the intersection of Dairy Castle.
Scroggin said the most enjoyable part of the library is watching people trade a keychain for a keychain or a trinket for a keychain.
"I am very surprised with the response. I didn't think it would be as popular and busy as it has been, but it is super fun," she said.
In addition to seeing people trade keychains or trinkets, Scroggin said she has been blown away with the donations that have been left behind.
"I even had someone leave $30 to buy the chain and keyrings. Someone asked to leave a money donation when I don't ask for money as a donation. I just ask for little toys/trinkets so they can be made into keychains," said Scroggin, who added the library is for both adults and children.
While the library is fairly new, Scroggin said it is her hope that it not only continues in Greencastle, but grows across the county.
"I think the future of this is it is going to continue and I hope the keychain library will last for years, bringing people from out of town through. I hope it grows outside of Greencastle. I would love to share this keychain library all over," Scroggin said.
