County Police arrest Indianapolis man for drugs & alcohol

An Indianapolis man was arrested on Sunday after county police found a handgun, suspected psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and alcohol in a vehicle during a traffic stop. 

On Sunday, May 18, at approximately 12:30 A.M., Marshall County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Deputy Bennett conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle on U.S. 31 at 19th Road. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 19-year-old Mason Mayer of Indianapolis. During the traffic stop, a handgun, drugs, and alcohol were located in the vehicle.

Mayer was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked for possession of a controlled substance when an enhancing circumstance applies as a level 6 felony, possession of marijuana as a class B misdemeanor, possession of paraphernalia as a class C misdemeanor, and illegal possession of an alcoholic beverage by a minor as a class C misdemeanor.

Mayer Mason was held on a $1,500 cash bond until about 3 a.m. when his bond was paid and he was released.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings, entitled to be represented by counsel, and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
