The Fulton County Warming Center has reopened at Faith Outreach Center.
Rochester City Councilwoman Amy Roe, president of Fulton County HOPE, announces that Faith Outreach Center, 1125 E. Ninth St., will host the Fulton County Warming Center this month.
The warming center moves from Heartland Church, which hosted the center through January, providing a warm place for the homeless, stranded motorists, or residents struggling with heating issues during the winter months. It was closed Saturday for the transition and reopened Sunday at Faith Outreach Center.
Intake hours have been extended and will run from 6-10 p.m. moving forward. Check-out remains at 7 a.m.
Those struggling to find a warm place to stay during the day are encouraged to visit places like the Fulton County Public Library, 320 W. Seventh St., or The Cross Church, 100 W. Third St., until the center reopens in the evening.
The warming center does not accept registered sex offenders.
A dog sheltering program is available. Those requiring the service must arrive between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. to coordinate transportation with volunteers on hand. Dogs will be sheltered out at the Emergency Management Agency Office, 1728 E. State Road 14, provided with crates from the Fulton County Animal Adoption and Education Center. Pickup is in the morning.
Those interested in helping at the warming center are encouraged to contact Whitney Yates via text at 574-727-0078.
