Indiana State Police Superintendent Anthony Scott recently announced the promotion of Trooper Tyler Turchi to the position of sergeant.
Sergeant Turchi will serve as a District Squad Sergeant for the Putnamville District. His responsibilities will be to provide supervision and support to district troopers. Sergeant Turchi earned this promotion through a competitive selection process.
Sergeant Turchi is a 7-year veteran of the Indiana State Police. He is a 2015 graduate of North Vermillion High School. After graduating from high school, he attended Indiana State University for three years before attending the Indiana State Police Academy.
In December of 2018, Sergeant Turchi graduated from the 78th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and was assigned to the Lafayette District, where he worked as a road patrol trooper. In 2022, Turchi transferred to the Putnamville District and worked as a road trooper in Parke and Vermillion counties.
During his career, Turchi has served the Indiana State Police as a Field Training Officer and a Standard Field Sobriety Instructor.
Sergeant Turchi has been recognized as Trooper of the Year for the Lafayette District in 2020 and the Putnamville District in 2023. For the last two years, he has led the Putnamville District in arrests involving DUIs.
Sergeant Turchi resides in Vermillion County with his wife Audrey and their two children.
