The Rockville Police Department has acquired a new tool for their operations.
The ELASTEC Drug Terminator is a compact incinerator designed for disposing of evidence drugs, paraphernalia, and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), specifically tailored for law enforcement use. The drugs are securely eliminated by introducing them into a cyclone of flames. This incinerator also incinerates other non-hazardous items like documents and plants.
Non-combustible items, such as syringes and sharp objects, are sterilized and can be discarded with regular municipal waste.
This method is more efficient than traditional open barrel burning; the high temperatures ensure a clean, smoke-free incineration, reducing the discarded materials to only about 1% to 3% ash residue.
The ELASTEC Drug Terminator was purchased with opioid settlement fund money.
