The Red Hill Unit #10 Board of Education continued preparations for the new school year as the old one ends.
Meeting in Bridgeport, they approved student fees and admission prices for 2026-27. Superintendent Jakie Walker told GIANT-FM News that the only increase is 10 cents for breakfast and lunches with all other fees and admission prices remaining the same. Also set by the board were the wages and salaries for administrators and support staff for 26-27.
A bid of approximately $97,000 was accepted from Grunloh Construction for the Sumner Attendance Center (SAC) coal room removal project. Quotes were also accepted for a new stove at Red Hill Jr/Sr High School, a rolling counter fire door for the Jr/Sr High School cafeteria, and a faulty condenser coil replacement in the chiller at Bridgeport Grade School (BGS).
Resignations were accepted from Matthew Meridith as Red Hill Jr/Sr High School Assistant Principal, Jordan Tucker as Red Hill Girls Basketball Assistant Coach and Valerie Widener as Red Hill Junior High Head Softball Coach.
The tentative FY26 amended budget was also approved and will be on public display for 30 days prior to a scheduled hearing on the spending plan set for Thursday, June 25th.
