Friday night, June 7th officers with the Plymouth Police Department were notified of a motorcycle and a sedan racing eastbound on U.S. 30.
Officers located the vehicles which were traveling more than 80 MPH at U.S. 30 and Oak Drive.
Officer Mark conducted a traffic stop on the sedan. Corporal Baker and Officer Witkowski attempted to make a traffic stop on the motorcycle. The officers activated their emergency lights and the motorcycle failed to yield and took off at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle's speed reached an excess of 130 MPH, and the pursuit was terminated.
Officers notified Kosciusko County of the fleeing vehicle and a short time later K-County Deputies and Troopers with the Indiana State Police located the motorcycle pulling into an apartment complex. Deputies made contact with the suspect, 23-year-old Shomari Jace Willis of Portage, IN, and took him into custody. ISP transported Willis to the Marshall County Jail where he was turned over to Corporal Baker and booked into the Marshall County Jail for reckless driving and resisting law enforcement. The suspect was issued a $1500 bond.
