Governor Mike Braun and Indiana State Comptroller Elise Nieshalla will host a press conference with legislative leaders Monday to highlight Indiana’s role in growing a state‑driven movement to raise awareness about the $38 trillion national debt through resolutions that recognize its serious risk to America’s economic strength and national security.
The Indiana Senate’s adoption of Senate Resolution 51 was inspired by then‑Senator Braun’s unanimously passed U.S. Senate Resolution 600 and has since gained national attention among states.
The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) adopted Indiana’s SR 51 as a model resolution for states across the country. ALEC is coming to the Statehouse to recognize Indiana’s leadership in building a movement of support for President Trump and Congress to restore our country’s fiscal solvency, even as the Indiana House is currently advancing House Resolution 28 on the same matter, further strengthening the state’s role in this growing national effort.
The press conference is at 1 p.m. at the Indiana Statehouse, 4th Floor South Atrium.
The press conference is expected to include:
- Governor Mike Braun
- State Comptroller Elise Nieshalla, Chair of the National Debt Crisis Taskforce
- State Senate President Pro Tempore Rodric Bray (R-Martinsville)
- State Sen. Linda Rogers (R-Granger), State Chair of ALEC
