There is good news for Lawrence County and other area residents who are part of the federal food stamp program.
The Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) has indicated that it will restore full USDA Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits now that the federal government shutdown has ended.
They anticipated that the remaining benefit payments will be made over the coming days, with all SNAP recipients receiving their full November benefits by Thursday, November 20th.
1.9 million Illinoisians rely on the federally funded program.
