A South Bend man is in the Marshall County Jail on a $30,000 cash bond following his arrest on May 3 on nine charges.
At approximately 3:45 a.m. on Saturday, the Plymouth Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle trying to evade police in the River Park Mobile Home Community at 805 Baker Street. During the officers' investigation, the 27-year-old driver was identified as Miguel Flores-Urquizo of South Bend. Two female juveniles, ages 13 and 16, were also in the vehicle.
Investigators determined that Flores-Urquizo was under the influence and in possession of marijuana. A lengthy investigation resulted in him being taken into custody on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.
A probable cause affidavit was submitted to the Marshall County Courts and approved by a judge, who set a $30,000 cash bond.
Flores-Urquizo is facing criminal charges of child solicitation as a level 5 felony, four level 6 felonies for OWI with a passenger under 18, OWI with a prior conviction, dealing in marijuana, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, as well as four class A misdemeanors for possession of marijuana with a previous conviction, operating without a license with a prior conviction, driving while suspended with an earlier conviction, and driving while suspended-knowing the suspension arises from a conviction of a criminal offense.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
