An arrest made after six people were hit by a vehicle at the Wabash Valley Dragway.
Just after 6 p.m. Saturday, 911 calls came into the Vigo County Central Dispatch Center in reference to six individuals being injured at the Wabash Valley Dragway after being struck by a passenger vehicle.
As an Indiana State Police trooper arrived he observed first responders providing medical care to several individuals. information gathered at the scene pointed to a vehicle that was performing burnouts in a specified area and lost control, pushing a large metal barrier into the crowd. The vehicle then left the area. Officers were able to locate the vehicle that was at fault for the incident, but the driver was not with the vehicle. After speaking with several individuals at the dragway, the owner of the vehicle at fault presented himself to officers and turned himself in.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Merick C. Colson, 20, of Danville, Indiana. Colson was taken into custody and transported to the Vigo County Jail without incident.
The individuals injured during this incident had non-life-threatening injuries.
Colson currently faces the following charges:
Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon, Class 6 Felony
Leaving the Scene of a Crash Serious Bodily Injury, Class 6 Felony
Criminal Recklessness, Class A Misdemeanor
