Riding bicycles, extreme sports vehicles, and toy vehicles in the Plymouth Downtown Business District is prohibited.
A 1994 City Ordinance states that it shall be unlawful for any person, except emergency and or law enforcement personnel, to ride any bicycle or scooter, motorized or otherwise, along or upon any of the sidewalks in the Business District of the City of Plymouth. The ordinance also states that it is unlawful for anyone to skate, either ice skate, roller skate, or skateboard on the downtown sidewalks or any of the concrete steps or curbs within the city’s public parks. The ordinance goes one step further not permitting anyone to coast with a sled, hand wagon, or in any other manner on sidewalks in Plymouth’s downtown.
Section D of the city ordinance makes it unlawful for anyone to skate with ice skates, roller skates, or skateboard on any private property within the city after that person has been notified by a person legally in possession of the property not to do so.
Any vehicle or toy used in violations of this city ordinance may be seized and held in evidence pending final resolution of the ticket issues for violation by payment or the fine. Vehicles used by disabled or handicapped persons are not included in this city ordinance.
The penalty for violations of this ordinance is a $25 fine.
