Fire destroyed a historic building in the city of Albion Illinois this past weekend. Reports indicate that around 6 p.m. Saturday, units of the Albion fire department were dispatched to the Colyer Coffee House located at 16 East Elm Street and found the structure's attic fully involved upon arrival. They were able to bring the fire under control in a short period of time, but there was extensive fire, smoke and water damage and the building is being considered a total loss. No one was there when the fire broke out and there were no reported injuries. The cause remains under investigation.
