Two individuals were arrested Tuesday afternoon after a domestic disturbance at a Plymouth motel led to the discovery of a firearm, suspected methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.

On Tuesday, September 29th, at approximately 1 p.m., Plymouth Police were dispatched to the Economy Inn on North Michigan Street for a domestic disturbance in progress.

When Patrolman Thornton arrived on scene and located the female involved, the male exited his room with a firearm displayed in his hand. Verbal commands were given, and both individuals — 52-year-old Tomas Casares Jr. of Bremen and 55-year-old Jami R. Kotras of Knox were detained for the duration of the incident.

During the investigation, officers observed suspected paraphernalia inside the room in plain view. A search warrant was obtained, and city officers located suspected paraphernalia, suspected methamphetamine, and prescription medications.

Casares was lodged in the Marshall County Jail and charged with felon in possession of a firearm and intimidation with a deadly weapon, both as level 5 felonies; possession of methamphetamine, possession of a legend drug or precursor, and domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, all as level 6 felonies; and possession of paraphernalia as a Class C misdemeanor.

Kotras was booked into the Marshall County Jail for domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury as a level 6 felony.

Both individuals remain held at the Marshall County Jail.
