The Mt Carmel Golden Aces scored 7 runs in the top of the 5th inning to break the game open and then held on after a late rally to defeat the Lawrenceville Indians 14-9 Monday in Little Illini Conference (LIC) action at Unit 20 Ballpark in Lawrenceville.
The Golden Aces scored 14 runs on 10 hits and committed 1 error while the Tribe scored 9 runs on 8 hits and made 2 errors. Elliott Gerittsen had hits including a triple and 3 RBI, Korbin Shaffer added 2 hits and 2 RBI and Emery Ivers had an RBI hit for the Indians, who have lost 4 in a row to fall to 2-9 on the season.
The Indians are idle until Thursday when they hit the road to Marshall for conference play.
