As several popular hunting seasons get underway or continue across the state, disabled Hoosier veterans are reminded of the hunting-related resources available to them.
Those resources include offering discounted hunting and fishing licenses, reduced-cost access to state-owned parks and recreation areas, veteran waterfowl hunting, and free hunting opportunities for catastrophically disabled veterans.
“As an avid conservationist and outdoorsman, I understand the peace that hunting can bring someone. No one deserves that peace more than veterans," said Gov. Braun. "I am proud to do what I can to ensure Hoosier veterans can fully experience the natural beauty and traditions that make Indiana home."
Indiana veterans who have documented service-connected disability are eligible for a discounted Hunting and Fishing DAV license, available for $2.75 for one year or $27.50 for ten years. The license covers small game hunting and fishing, excluding required stamps. To learn more: DVA: Disabled Veteran Discounted Hunting and Fishing License, and Golden Hoosier Passport
