Ruth Ann Anders, 91, of Plymouth, said her last good-byes on this earth on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 10th, in the home she loved and shared with many for 70 years. She was born to the late Vern and Mable Mae (Barber) Dipert on September 27, 1934, in Plymouth, Indiana. She had 9 siblings, who all have gone before her.
Ruth Ann was proud to be in the Plymouth High School class of 1952, where lifelong friendships were made. On April 3, 1954, at the Inwood Methodist Church, she married her childhood sweetheart, Donald G Anders. Together they built a family that was the center of Ruth’s world, and she treasured every chapter of that life together. They began their life together by moving to St. Louis while Don was in the army. They settled in Plymouth on the west end of Myers Lake in 1956, where they lived in the same house all their lives.
Ruth Ann enjoyed country gospel music and a good cup of coffee. Many days you would find her on her back porch bird watching while she monitored the comings and goings on the lake. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens- canning and preserving most everything to share with family and friends. Her strawberry jam was considered a favorite by most. Pontoon picnics were a regular on a summer afternoon.
She enjoyed traveling with her family throughout the United States, with trips to the west coast being her favorite. Cooking was one of her many expressions of love—from countless cookies, pies, and fish fries, to large family gatherings with her signature dish being macaroni and cheese. Ruth Ann provided childcare in her home for many years. She was a caretaker of all, whether it be family or friends. She provided a safe haven for many.
Ruth Ann was the heart of her home and family. She loved them fiercely. She raised three children, Debra Scott, Lisa Kay Potter, Richard (Amy) Paton; eight grandchildren, Logan Potter, Joshua (Kaisi) Scott, Lexis (Kyle) Hein, Rinda-Kay Scott, Haley (Justin) Buchert, Taylor (Allison) Scott, Hunter (Gracie) Paton, LeeAnn Potter; five great grandchildren, Everly, Madeline, Da’Shawn, Landon, and Lawson along with many nieces and nephews whom she treasured.
Ruth Ann leaves a legacy of love in her family and friends. With a fiery spirit, she has shown us all how to persevere through personal challenges and live life to the fullest.
At Ruth Ann’s request there will be no formal services, a private Celebration of Life will take place this summer at the lake she loved…Myers Lake.
Palmer Funeral Home – Plymouth Chapel is honored to be assisting the family with final arrangements.
