A motorist was arrested for reckless driving Saturday night just 30 minutes after receiving a speeding citation, Plymouth Police reported.

Officer Mark observed a Ford pickup truck performing a burnout in the center lane of North Street at approximately 10:30 p.m. on December 27th.

The officer conducted a traffic stop on the pickup in the area of North and Plum Streets. A second Plymouth officer who arrived on scene informed Officer Mark that the same driver had been issued a citation for excessive speed on U.S. 30 just 30 minutes earlier at 10:00 p.m.

The driver, Gavin Brink, 19, of Walkerton, was taken into custody without incident and transported to Marshall County Jail.

Brink was booked on a charge of reckless driving. He was assigned a court date in Marshall County Superior Court II and issued a cash bond of $100. His bond was posted 90 minutes later, and he was released on bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed, and there is only probable cause to believe that a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings, entitled to be represented by counsel, and entitled to a trial jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
