U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) Friday applauded after the Maritime Action Plan was released this afternoon by the Trump Administration, as directed under President Trump’s executive order titled “Restoring America’s Maritime Dominance,” signed on April 9, 2025:
“I am grateful to President Trump and his team for devoting time and attention to revitalizing our maritime industrial base,” said Senator Young. “This plan is a much-needed, holistic approach to restoring American commercial shipping dominance. There is substantial overlap between the President’s vision and the plan we’ve proposed in the SHIPS for America Act. The announcement today should serve as a wake-up call for Congress to act quickly on this bill in order to provide the legal authorities and resources necessary to make this plan a reality. It’s time to make American ships again.”
Last year, Senator Young introduced the SHIPS for America Act with Senator Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) to revitalize America’s domestic shipbuilding and commercial maritime industries.
