Two individuals from Rochester were arrested on Monday evening, December 23rd, on marijuana possession charges following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of a significant amount of suspected marijuana.

Marshall County Sheriff's deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding at approximately 8:24 p.m. on December 23rd.

During the traffic stop, the deputy detected an odor commonly associated with marijuana coming from the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered approximately 140 grams of suspected marijuana.

Both occupants were taken into custody at the scene.

April S. Spencer, 48, and Timothy N. Heise, 49, were arrested and transported to Marshall County Jail, where they were booked on charges of possession of marijuana.

Both were issued bonds of $255 each.

The vehicle was towed from the scene by Lyon Towing.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed, and there is only probable cause to believe that a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings, entitled to be represented by counsel, and entitled to a trial jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
