A Greencastle man has found himself behind bars in the Putnam County Jail facing sexual battery charges stemming from an incident earlier this year.
According to court documents, Hezekiah N. Whitt, 20, Greencastle, allegedly invited a female to his house to watch the Super Bowl and then sexually assaulted her after she fell asleep. Court documents state the victim fell asleep and that is when Whitt removed her pants and underwear and began touching her without her consent. She told police that she was "sexually fondled without permission."
The woman woke up during the assault and Whitt began to dress the victim.
When questioned by police, Whitt said he was giving the woman a massage and his hands rubbed her buttocks. He initially told police he did not touch her private area, but then recounted saying he wasn't sure if he touched her inappropriately. He admitted to police he had done something similar to the victim before and didn't believe it was a problem.
Whitt was booked on a Level 6 felony charge of sexual battery and is being held on a $10,000 cash bond and has a no contact order in place with the victim.
