Officers from the Plymouth Police Department arrested two from Fort Wayne after they gave false names and birthdates and had a fully loaded Glock handgun with a 15-round magazine.

On Tuesday just after 9 p.m., officer Allen conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a headlight out on U.S. 30 east of Michigan Street.

While attempting to identify the two occupants of the vehicle, 22-year-old Iyonna Dupree-Smith and 34-year-old Ronald Shorter Jr., they initially provided officers with false names and dates of birth. Officers were eventually able to identify both individuals correctly and found outstanding warrants from Allen County for them.

City police found that one of the suspects had a Glock handgun fully loaded with a 15-round magazine, as well as a separate fully loaded 50-round drum magazine.

Shorter and Dupree-Smith were both taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail.  They were booked for their warrants, obstruction of justice, and false informing and held on $1,500 cash bonds.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
