Shelbyville sophomore Shia Veach has been named the Beth Prince State Farm Athlete of the Week.
Competing at the Dennis McNulty Invitational Friday, which was hosted by Warren Central, Veach clocked a personal-best time in the 3,200 meters and won the event in nine minutes, 57.57 seconds, 17 seconds off his previous personal best.
Veach beat Center Grove sophomore Yared Seyoum, who finished in second, by approximately three seconds.
