The top ranked Lawrenceville basketball Indians notched their third straight win Tuesday night at home, but not without a struggle.
The #18 ranked Louisville (North Clay) Cardinals shot lights out in the first half to lead by double digits at the half but cooled off in the second half under intense Indian pressure defense and lost to the Tribe 64-53.
The visitors led 16-12 after one quarter and expanded the lead to 39-27 at the half. However, the host Indians came out in the second half and were able to cut the deficit to 47-43 after three quarters before dominating the fourth quarter 21-10 enroute to the win.
Four Indians scored in double figures-Noah Wilson with 21, Zander Cessna 20, Jacek Mickiewicz 11, and Jayden Goff 10.
In the preliminary games, North Clay won the freshman game 46-41 while Indian JV improved to 2-5 with a 45-36 win led by both Issac Vennard and Blayton Gossett with 11 and Luke Schultz 10.
The Indians are now 16-1 overall on the season and return to Little Illini Conference (LIC) play Friday at Newton.
