The numbers may be small on the roster, but the Cloverdale girl's basketball team enters the postseason with plenty of grit, as coach J.J. Wade's team looks to cut down the nets at Clay City in the Class A Sectional 61 tournament.
Cloverdale (9-11) enter the tournament taking on Shakamak (11-9) at 6 p.m. on Feb. 4. The nine wins are the most for the Clovers since the 2019-2020 season, and Wade's team has won nine of their last 12 games.
After opening the season 0-8, Cloverdale is playing its best basketball when it matters most and will look to avenge an earlier season 30-23 setback when it plays Shakamak.
Shakamak, on the other hand, has found mixed results to close out the regular season, having dropped three of its last five games.
The winner of Cloverdale and Shakamak will play the winner of Clay City (9-10) and North Central (3-15) on Feb 6 at 7:30 p.m.
The top half of the bracket features Bloomfield (7-10) playing White River Valley (10-10) on Feb. 3. The winner will take on the winner of Dugger Union (4-17) and Lighthouse (9-9).
