CGA falls in sectional play CULVER — Last night, the CGA Varsity Lacrosse team's season concluded as it lost to Carmel High School 14-5 on Oliver Field in INGLA sectional play. The team ends the year with a 9-4 overall record, and the seven-year series record against Carmel moves to 5-5, including one state championship win and one final four loss for the Eagles. The CGA group managed to make some exceptional defensive plays, forcing 11 turnovers on the night. They weren't able to capitalize, however, as the team as a whole managed to shoot at 30 percent, compared to the season average of roughly 60 percent. "Tonight we just couldn't find the back of their net," said head coach Debi Trau. "We credit Carmel on their performance, they were able to play a complete game." "We are a young group that plays exceptionally well together. We had to be creative with personnel this year for a number of reasons, which allowed our players to gain experience in roles all over the field," Trau said of the youth of her program. "We will miss this year's group of seniors greatly, but with only three of them, it means we will able to return next year much wiser and stronger."
