Donations for the 27th Annual Warm Up Marshall County Coat Drive have been overwhelming.
Steve Keiser from Oliver Ford Lincoln in Plymouth came up with the idea while driving his daughters to school and seeing kids waiting for the bus in sweatshirts despite temperatures in the 30s.
Warm Up Marshall County offers new or gently used winter coats and accessories to children and adults in need within the Marshall County area. The program collaborates with local businesses and community members to gather donations and hosts a distribution event where community members in need can pick up warm clothing.
Donations of clean, gently used, or new winter coats, hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, boots, and snow pants were collected from Oct. 29 to Nov. 19. Those items are now ready for distribution.
This Saturday and Sunday, items will be distributed at the National Guard Armory, 1220 West Madison Street in Plymouth. On Saturday, those in need can pick up a coat from 10 a.m. to noon, and on Sunday, from noon to 2 p.m.
Steve Keiser thanks the other area businesses that help to make this program so successful.
