Yocum was selected Tuesday to fill the vacancy left by the departure of Alan Morrison. Morrison, the 13-year representative from Brazil, was chosen by Governor Mike Braun to lead the Department of Natural Resources.
Yocum says his work in Vermilion County in local government will serve him and his constituents well. He's excited with this opportunity
Yocum's career has been with Duke Energy. For now, he's taking a leave of absence. But at the age of 65 he says retirement from Duke Energy is a possibility.
Speaking of energy, Yocum knows topics like that will come up for District 42.
Yocum says the common sense approach to ambulance service that brought Vermillion and Parke counties together is an example of how issues should be handled at the state level.
The soon to be sworn-in state representative intends to be connected with the people of District 42
