A former Vermillion County Department of Child Services family case manager has found herself behind bars and facing multiple felonies following a recent investigation.
The Indiana Office of Inspector General recently completed an investigation into Megan Belleu and found the former DCS employee lied about records and committed misconduct.
According to court documents, Belleu worked with DCS from July 23, 2023 to March 18, 2025. During that time, she was investigated four times for allegedly falsifying records and misconduct. On multiple instances, Belleu documented in-person visits with children that never took place.
In one instance, a mother claimed she had not seen her children, and the foster parent agreed, stating the children had no in person visits with their mother and the case worker had not seen the children since she placed them there in October of 2024. Belleu, however, documented visits.
On two other occasions, Belleu documented visits with children, provided narratives and photos that were received from the foster parent. In another instance, she visited another child and delivered a narrative of what took place, however, the family stated Belleu only visited twice while the child was in their custody and they were at a sporting event on the date in question.
Belleu is charged with four counts of Level 6 felony official misconduct and four counts of obstructing or interfering with a child abuse assessment.
