A pipe bomb threat was received by Indiana State Senator Jean Leising.
Leising is one of many Indiana office holders who have received threats or been the focus of swatting incidents.
Posting on social media Leising wrote, "Unfortunately, my house was the target of a pipe bomb threat on Saturday evening. This is a result of the D.C. political pundits for redistricting. Thanks to the Oldenburg Town Marshall, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the ISP, all is okay. Hoping that legislators will not cave to the negative texts, phone calls, swatting, bomb threats, etc.! We have to do what is right for our Indiana constituents.
In a statement, Gov. Mike Braun reported that Indiana State Police will investigate threats made against local and state lawmakers.
“Enough is enough,” Braun wrote. “These threats to lawmakers, including those received by me and my family in recent days, need to stop. Indiana State Police and their law-enforcement partners have been working around the clock all week to protect lawmakers and investigate threats. Rest assured — if you threaten or attempt to carry out acts of violence against Indiana’s elected officials, we WILL bring you to justice.”
Indiana State Police are encouraging those with information on threats made against any elected official to send an email to iifc@iifc.in.gov.
