The city of St. Francisville is working toward hiring an area construction company to complete needed repair work on the old bridge in the future.
The City Council Wednesday June 10th moved to allow Mayor T.J. Moyes to contract with Dave Brown Construction of West Salem to come in and work on replacing boards and ties on the structure. To complete the work, it will probably be necessary to shut down the bridge to vehicular traffic for at least a week. A firm time for that to occur has yet to be determined.
An analysis of Water Well #6 has been received and the indications are that it will need to be cleaned of iron buildup. Prices for that work are expected to come into the city soon.
The bid letting for the city's motor fuel tax chip and seal program was held in mid-May at the Lawrence County Highway Department barn. The low bidder was submitted by and awarded to the Mt.Carmel Stabilization Group.
