For the better part of a year, Rodger Smith has been attending Rockville Town Board members as a citizen, trying to learn as much as he can.
It is now time to put the lessons to work, as Smith was one of two Republicans elected to fill voids on the Rockville Town Board.
Smith earned 37.51 percent of the vote or 413 votes, while fellow Republican Shane Russell earned 32.24 percent or 355 votes. Democratic candidate Kevin Callans finished third with 30.25 percent of the vote or 333 votes.
"It feels good, and I am excited to get started," Smith told The Parke County Post.
Smith and Russell will replace Parke Swaim and Chris McCann, both of whom opted not to run for re-election.
