A report of sexual assault led to a Pulaski County arrest.
On February 10, the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department was contacted by the Wabash Police Department regarding allegations of sexual assault involving a 16-year-old female. The juvenile reported that she had been sexually assaulted a few days before by a man identified as Alex Wash of Winamac.
A month-long investigation involving gathering evidence related to the allegations, conducting interviews, executing search warrants for Wash’s DNA and cellular phone, and performing a forensic examination of the device. The Pulaski County Sheriff's Department says location data and text messages recovered from the phone helped corroborate portions of the victim’s account and led investigators to additional physical evidence.
A report was submitted to the Pulaski County Prosecutor’s Office requesting that Wash be formally charged with rape, a Level 3 felony.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information related to this case is encouraged to contact the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department.
