Shelbyville Central Schools, in conjunction with McDonald’s owner/operator Zack Wojtowicz, hosted a Dine-to-Donate event on Oct. 13 to benefit the Shelbyville Central Education Foundation.
Shelbyville Central Schools’ employees traded their classrooms and offices for a different kind of work environment as they joined the crew at McDonald’s on East State Road 44 for McTeacher’s Night.
From 4 to 7 p.m. the restaurant was filled with students, families, teachers, and community members coming together to support a great cause in the foundation.
The SCS crew helped sell McDonald’s famous apple pies, cleaned tables, helped at the drive-thru and cooked hot, delicious French fries during the event.

As part of the fundraiser, 15% of all sales between 4 and 7 p.m. were donated to the Shelbyville Central Education Foundation, which provides valuable support and opportunities for students and teachers throughout Shelbyville Central Schools.
In addition, McDonald’s apple pies were sold for donations, giving families another way to support the foundation.
At the conclusion of the time period, McDonald’s management announced it had experienced a record-breaking hour of sales between 4 and 5 p.m.
SCS Superintendent Dr. Matt Vance praised the event at Monday’s school board meeting and thanked everyone who participated.
The foundation will receive $2,000 from this inaugural event that Vance hopes to continue in the future.
