Following approval of an equipment-related tax abatement by the Vincennes City Council, the SCHOTT North America facility is moving forward with a $1.8 million expansion to manufacture high-tech CERAN glass cooktops to keep pace with increasing customer needs.
“SCHOTT North America in Vincennes represents a strategic and substantial Foreign Direct Investment and they have proven to be an excellent partner for economic growth in our region,” said Chris Pfaff, CEO of Knox County Indiana Economic Development. “We are grateful to have the world’s best-selling cooktop panel brand manufactured here in Knox County.”
Pfaff added that the presence of significant German-based FDI in Knox County “helps provide important economic diversification to strengthen our region – this is an important relationship on a variety of levels.”
Pfaff and local Vincennes officials joined Michael Ahrens, the German Consul General from Chicago, for a site visit of the SCHOTT facility earlier in November 2024. Pfaff also traveled to Berlin, Germany in January to take part in the annual Global Forum for Food and Agriculture.
Knox County is actively engaged in the Transatlantic Business and Investment Council (TBIC) through the Southwest Indiana Development Council (SWIDC). “TBIC helps us sustain and grow opportunities for existing and potential FDI for the region,” Pfaff added.
