Officers from the Rockville Police Department have a significant new upgraded resource at their disposal to help resolve dangerous situations.
Rockville Police posted on social media that Patrolman Troy Nichols, Patrolman Cameron Martin, and Chief Bill McMichael completed the Taser 10 Instructor Course. The RPD is set to provide its officers with a new taser model known as the “Taser 10,” manufactured by Axon.
The Taser 10 represents an upgrade from the previously used “Taser X26P,” which is also produced by Axon.
This new Taser 10 features a single magazine that holds 10 cartridges, which can be discharged one at a time. The upgraded Taser 10 has an effective firing range of up to 45 feet. All officers will receive training on and be issued the Taser 10 for use during patrol.
