Two out-of-town men were arrested in Centennial Park during the Blueberry Festival after police officers assigned to the event responded to a large fight with weapons.
Around 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 30th, Plymouth Police Officers and Marshall County Deputies quickly responded and found a male, later identified as Caleb Miller, 20, of Rochester, who was considered a possible armed suspect. When Plymouth Police Officers approached Miller, a fight broke out before he was quickly taken into custody.
Once Miller was secured in a police car, officers learned that a second suspect, later identified as Kyle Tidwell, 20, of Winamac, was in custody near a different entrance to the festival.
Plymouth officers investigated the incident and found that Tidwell had two loaded handguns on him and was fleeing the scene. Tidwell was booked into the Marshall County Jail while awaiting criminal charges for misdemeanor resisting law enforcement, disorderly conduct, and criminal trespassing.
Miller was held in the Marshall County Jail while facing criminal charges for felony battery on a law enforcement officer, misdemeanor resisting law enforcement, and disorderly conduct.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
