Plymouth Police log 3 arrests over weekend for intoxication, drug paraphernalia, and controlled substance possession

Plymouth Police Department officers made three arrests over the course of Sunday and Monday involving public intoxication, drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance.

Sunday afternoon, Officer Schieber was dispatched to the area of Lake Avenue and Third Street after reports of a male stumbling and falling down. Upon arrival, the officer observed the man staggering and identified him as Eric Goodrich, 49, of the 500 block of Oakhill Avenue in Plymouth. Goodrich was transported to Saint Joseph Hospital, where his blood alcohol level was measured at approximately .40% — nearly five times the legal driving limit. After receiving medical clearance, Goodrich was transported to the Marshall County Jail and lodged on a charge of public intoxication.

Monday afternoon, Plymouth officers responded to the area of Oak Road and Harrison Street after reports of a woman walking in and out of traffic. Upon arrival, K9 Kyzer performed an open-air sniff and alerted on the woman's belongings. A subsequent search of her property revealed drug paraphernalia. Kathy Jean Gamble, 47, of Fort Wayne, was transported to the Marshall County Jail and charged with public intoxication and possession of paraphernalia.

Later Monday evening, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Officer Thornton conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling south on North Michigan Street for failure to maintain lane. During the stop, the officer detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search ultimately revealed a small amount of Ecstasy. The driver, Latoya Renae Johnson, 47, of Pleasant Grove, Alabama, was taken into custody and booked into the Marshall County Jail on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. She was held on a $500 cash bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
