Two juveniles were detained by Plymouth Police Sunday at approximately 2 a.m. at Ruth and Michigan Streets on the city’s south side.
Officer Schieber with the Plymouth Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Michigan Street for moving violations and, during the stop, determined that the two occupants were juveniles suspected of being intoxicated.
During the investigation, one juvenile began to resist law enforcement. Parents were notified and made aware of the incident. Both juveniles were transported to the hospital and met by their parents. While at the hospital, the second juvenile began to resist law enforcement and was found to be operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level over .15.
The incident was reported to the juvenile probation office, and a report was submitted to the Prosecutor's Office for charges.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
