A South Bend woman was arrested at about 2 a.m. December 22 after Plymouth Police were dispatched to Jefferson and Michigan Streets for a possibly impaired driver.
The suspect vehicle was reported traveling south on Liberty Street from Jefferson before pulling into a yard. Plymouth Police located the vehicle in a yard with the driver still in the driver's seat.
The driver was identified as Karen Sue Matovich, 50. Police suspected her of being under the influence of alcohol and narcotics.
Matovich refused field sobriety and chemical testing, resulting in a search warrant being obtained. She was taken into custody after it was determined her blood alcohol concentration was nearly four times the legal limit.
Matovich was booked into the Marshall County Jail for operating a vehicle while intoxicated over .15 and endangering.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
