Plymouth Park Board approves pool passes, therapeutic home request, and Latino Festival boxing

Members of the Plymouth Park Board approved three separate requests during their meeting Monday afternoon at the Conservation Clubhouse, covering a high school football fundraiser, swimming pool access for a local therapeutic group home, and the return of boxing to the Latino Festival this fall.

The first request came from Brent Corbett, Interim Head Football Coach for the Plymouth Rockies, who asked for a Family Pool Pass to be donated to the annual auction benefiting all football teams at Plymouth High School. The board approved the donation.

The second request was submitted by Ted Hayden, Director and owner of Prairie View Therapeutic Group Home at 703 West Jefferson Street. Hayden requested six complimentary swimming pool passes for the residents in his care, young men between the ages of 12 and 20. Hayden assured the board that two Prairie View staff members would accompany and supervise the boys at all times while at the community pool. The board approved the request.

The third request came from Suzana Rodriguez Griffin on behalf of the Latino Festival, seeking permission to bring boxing back to River Park Square for the festival's September 12th event. Griffin noted an impressive turnout for last year's boxing event, which drew USA-sanctioned boxers and families from across Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, and Illinois. The boxing ring measures 20 by 20 feet and stands approximately three feet off the ground. In 2025, the event was held indoors across the street from River Park Square. Thanks to generous sponsorships, admission to the boxing event will be free to the public.

The board approved all three requests, with the stipulation that the Latino Festival provide proof of insurance and all necessary documentation prior to the September event.
