A traffic stop for speeding ends with an arrest for driving without a license.
On Tuesday, March 19th, at about 1:10 in the afternoon, Deputy Ash with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department stopped a vehicle for exceeding the posted speed limit on Lincoln Highway near the intersection with Iris Road.
During the investigation, it was learned that 39-year-old Wualter Almendarez of West Washington Street in Plymouth did not have a license. He was subsequently arrested for operating a motor vehicle without ever receiving a license and booked into the Marshall County Jail on a $100 cash bond at 2 p.m. His cash bond was posted at 6:30 p.m. and Almendarez was released on bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
