Plymouth City Boards to tackle delinquent utility bills, Heartland Art Center masonry request

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety and the Common Council will tackle a packed agenda Monday evening, ranging from uncollected utility bills to funding for the city's summer concert series.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting on the second-floor Council Chambers of City Hall.

A key item on the board's agenda is the consideration of writing off delinquent and uncollected utility bills, which include water, wastewater, garbage, and stormwater accounts. The board will also hear standard updates from department heads, the city attorney, and the clerk-treasurer.

Additionally, the board is expected to revisit a tabled request from the Heartland Art Center regarding proposed masonry work in an adjacent alley. During a previous meeting, City Planner Ty Adley presented several options for closing the alley to work on the project, but Councilman Dave Morrow requested that consideration be tabled to allow neighboring property owners time to review the options and voice any concerns before a final decision is made.

Immediately following at 6:30 p.m., the Plymouth Common Council will convene in the same room.

The council's agenda includes a resolution to transfer money from the city's General Fund into the Unsafe Building Fund, as well as the formal acceptance of donated funds for the upcoming Mayor’s Summer of Music Concert Series.

Council members will also hear several community presentations. SURF Internet is scheduled to provide an update, followed by a presentation from ONE Marshall County regarding the city's Comprehensive Plan. Finally, Marshall County Hope will provide an organizational update and present a request to the council.

Both meetings are open to the public. Attendees are asked to enter City Hall through the Garro Street entrance and take the elevator to the second floor. For those unable to attend in person, the meetings will be streamed live on the City of Plymouth's official YouTube channel.
