Tuesday evening the Plymouth School Board approved the appointment of a new assistant principal for Riverside Intermediate School.
Superintendent Mitch Mawhorter told the board that Principal Kyle Coffman lead a search committee for the position.
Mr. Coffman then announced Mrs. Michelle Zentz as the new assistant principal at Riverside Intermediate School. He said five years ago she worked as a teacher at Riverside and for the past three years she has been the Dean at North Miami Elementary School. Mr. Coffman then introduced Mrs. Zentz who was present for the meeting.
Michelle Zentz told the school board she is thrilled to be back in the Plymouth Schools and Riverside feels like home to her.
The School Board approved the hiring of Mrs. Zentz as the assistant principal at Riverside by a vote of 4-0 with one member absent from Tuesday’s meeting.
Assistant Superintendent Jill VanDriessche told the school board they are not ready to yet submit a recommendation for the adoption of curricular materials for the fall. The teams have reviewed the materials and prioritized them but until the state makes its determination the local school board can’t select the new curriculum.
The school board also approved a transportation agreement with Union North United for a Plymouth student who is receiving on-site services at Basher Home in Goshen. The Plymouth School Corporation will pay Union North United $56 daily for transportation services.
During Superintendent’s Remarks, Mitch announced that Jason Rivit has been appointed as the new director of the Adult Education program by the Plymouth School Board.
Rivit was a special education and adult education teacher in Warsaw from 2009-2014. Superintendent Mawhorter said he’s worked for the Plymouth Community School Corporation since 2015 as an education consultant for the last few years.
