One week earlier and the Easter Bunny would have needed a big boat to arrive for this year’s Easter Egg Hunt at Kennedy Park in Shelbyville.
The flood waters have receded and the Easter Bunny is expected to arrive Saturday at noon with help from the Shelbyville Fire Department.
This event is free and includes an organized Easter Egg Hunt, drawings to win new bicycles, painting Easter eggs, traversing an inflatable obstacle course and meeting some barnyard pals.
The Easter Egg Hunt is divided into five age groups: 2-and-under, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 and 9-10. The first 300 kids in attendance will receive an Easter bag to collect eggs.
Parents are only allowed in the hunting area with children that are 2-and-under. All other age groups will hunt independently.
All the Easter eggs will be empty, but children can exchange the eggs before they leave the park to receive a goodie bag.
The Shelbyville parks department staff will have 600 goodie bags prepared for distribution.
